Although netizens criticized an outfit worn by Katie Holmes, the actress is known for her unique looks and recently collaborated with a French fashion brand.
Stepping out for a casual stroll in Brooklyn, Hollywood star Katie Holmes sported a unique ensemble earlier today, November 14. While esteemed fashion outlet Vogue called Holmes’ look a blend of luxury and “GORPcore” fashion, netizens feel differently, with some saying the star looked “homeless.”
For those who may not be aware, GORPcore is a term used to describe fashion that turns practical clothing typically associated with an outdoor vibe into elevated stylish ensembles. Embracing the trend, Holmes sported an eye-catching multi-colored “Marfa Stance” jacket.
The bomber jacket features intricate patchwork and, according to Vogue, is a limited edition that costs $1,545. Not only is the clothing item practical in terms of its water-repellent quality, but the jacket is versatile, too, as it can be worn in reverse because it’s quilted inside.
Underneath the jacket, the “Dawson’s Creek” star rocked a white cozy-looking sweater that features an exaggerated polo-neck.
Holmes paired her bomber with wide-legged gray jeans, which showcased a “raw hem” and donned “stalwart Acne Studios square-toe loafers.” The actress also carried a tan-colored “Khaite tote” bag, which perfectly complemented her “earthy” jacket.
She accessorized with big dark sunglasses and left her locks loose. A video captured of the star that was posted on Instagram and TikTok showed her walking along the pavement with one hand in her pocket.
“Katie Holmes ❤️❤️ as always, looked very beautiful while out for a walk, showcasing her style,” captioned Elder Ordonez, who recorded and posted the video. Unlike the compliment Ordonez gave Holmes, netizens expressed critical opinions about her appearance.
“Looks like a hot air balloon that popped,” observed an Instagrammer. Another remarked, “This is not stunning but frumpy I would not scrub floors in that attire,” while someone else opined, “She looks homeless.” “Dressed like a bag lady 😂😂😳 not impressive sorry,” added a user on TikTok.
Others focused their attention on a specific piece of clothing. “She is a beautiful woman but those pants are hideous,” penned a netizen. A spectator echoed, “Those pants are ridiculous.”
More criticism concerning Holmes’ pants ensued, with yet another observer writing, “Those pants are horribly unflattering.” “Can we all get over these clown pants already???” pleaded a social media user.
Amid the vitriol, however, came a few compliments. “She looks pretty 😍,” swooned a fan. A fellow admirer praised, “her [sic] outfit is amazing! 🤍🤎✌🏼,” while another chimed in with, “Very nice ❤️.” “Her style is awesome,” gushed yet another fan.

Months before she was seen out in New York donning an avant-garde ensemble, the “First Daughter” actress collaborated on a fashion line with Parisian brand A.P.C. — a brand that she has been a loyal customer of since the nineties.
The star and A.P.C. worked together to craft a dozen signature pieces of clothing inspired by feminine qualities, and a line of refined accessories.
To create the pieces, Holmes immersed herself in the fashion house’s archives and “[stepped] into the memories of A.P.C. garments of the past, bringing inspiration from collections from the early 2000s and working to make them modern and relevant to the 2024 customer.”
Designed as a “series of complete silhouettes,” pieces from the collection can be mixed and matched with one another.
The brand dubbed a pastel-colored quilt (one of the pieces from the collection) as a standout garment that was inspired by a prototype that the actress’ mom made. This piece is also a limited edition, with only 100 copies in existence.

When the collection, “Interaction #24 A.P.C. Katie Holmes,” was launched, Holmes and A.P.C. hosted an event at the fashion brand’s outlet in Mercer, New York on June 5.
Together with A.P.C.’s Artistic Director Judith Touitou, Holmes participated in a Q&A session at the event that was moderated by Gabe Tesoriero.
Holmes and Touitou discussed the creative inspirations and personal styles that gave rise to the collection and shared how their backgrounds and experiences influenced the design process.
“[Katie’s] choices were always very clear; she had these very smart and thoughtful ideas about what a woman today should wear to feel confident and beautiful but still be herself,” divulged Touitou during the session.

The “Logan Lucky” talent explained how she approached the designing phase with “the idea of creating a complete wardrobe,” adding that the collection has items for both day and night wear.
When asked how she would describe the unique twist she brought to the collection using one word, Holmes shared, “I would say tradition. We’ve incorporated quilting into some of our pieces and created quilts that accompany the collection.”
She continued, “To me, patchwork represents history and memories, a thread of generations living within each of us. It’s about vintage inspiring the modern, honoring our past, and embracing tradition.”

Other topics that were discussed during the Q&A included the learning experience Katie Holmes acquired through the process.
“Working with Jean and Judith Touitou […] I learned so much from their artistic perspectives on shape, form, and color. This collaboration has been a joyous reminder that working together with kindness can produce beautiful and authentic creations,” disclosed Holmes.
